Hi Folks-

Just wanted to let everyone know that our new retail store, Garrett's Flower Shop, will have an open house/ grand re-opening next Saturday the 28th from 10 -3. While we won't have any local flowers this time of year, we have made every effort to make it worth a trip out to Liberty. The shop has been completely expanded and remodeled and will feature a new display cooler to showcase local flowers (in season) and holiday arrangements.

We have brought in pieces from local potters, locally produced soy candles and Debbie Roos' famous greeting cards. Jim will have a preview of what we will have for Valentine's Day, and rumor has it there might be a free rose for the ladies.

Some of the Saturday only specials:

Free local (Liberty) delivery on Valentine's Day pre- orders

15% off in- store pickup Valentine's pre-orders

20% off greeting cards

20% off plush

15% off live plants

10% of silks and candles

Also refreshments and door prizes - but no live music unless someone on this list volunteers:) It has been an exciting but exhausting month bringing this to life, so we are looking forward to seeing our friends and relaxing a little bit this weekend. Directions here, and feel free to call the shop anytime at 336-622-4556 or the house at 336-622-9551 if you have any questions. See you on the 28th!

A quick note from the farm to let you know what we have going on as the market season draws to a close. Our final regular market will be this Saturday from 8AM - 12PM at the Chatham Mills Farmers' Market in Pittsboro, and there will be a special Thanksgiving market at the same location on Wednesday, November 23rd from 12PM - 3PM. We will be on hand at both markets with cut mums in several bright fall colors, sunflowers, marigolds, lilies and more - we will have arrangements ready to grab and go.

Keep in mind that our local farmers, bakers and artists will be able to provide much of what you need for your holiday celebration - vegetables, meats, baked goods and hostess gifts.

Finally, some really exciting news - a brick and mortar retail storefront in 2012! We will assume ownership of Garrett's Florist in Liberty on January 1st. We will continue to operate the store (re-named Garrett's Flower Shop) as a full service florist and will feature local flowers by the stem, bunch and in our arranged work as well. We also plan to carry a limited gift selection and are in the process of sourcing most of these products locally.

We have penciled in January 28th as a grand opening date, and will send out another newsletter when plans firm up. We would be honored to have you - our loyal customer - as a guest.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Robert and Jim

P.S. We will still be at the Chatham Mills Market in 2012 :)

We have had, for the first time in recent memory, an awesome crop of rudbeckia (black-eyed susan). In years past the grasshopper pressure has been so heavy we were lucky to get a half eaten stem or two. This year we dropped the a-bomb of insect control - guineas! They ain't pretty and make a torrential racket - but hardly a hopper in sight. Tons of stuff this week in addition to the susans (Indian Summer and Irish Eyes) -

Huge selection of lilies
Zinnia
Strawflower
Lavender
Marigolds
Statice
Celosia
Gomphrena
Ageratum
Snapdragons
Queen Anne's Lace
Amaranthus

We will be bringing along potting soil and peat pots for a another "Gardening for Kids" activity at the Chatham Mills Market - this week Patting Dukes will be demonstrating "Gardening Projects to do with Dad."
Snapdragons still going strong in all colors

Saponaria in its full, dramatic glory - pink and white - only available for a couple of weeks each spring

Dianthus (Sweet William) - we have every imaginable color and will be featuring these in many of our baskets

Saponaria - similar to baby’s breath; a light pink, airy filler that almost defines Mother’s Day

Agrostemma (corn cockles)

We have every greenhouse packed with the little monsters, and I will have to admit they are beautiful this year.

We still have the old favorites - German Johnson, Cherokee, Eva Purple Ball, Rutgers etc., and have added Roma, some yellow varieties and a wider variety of cherry types. We will have herbs again this year - basil, thyme, mint, oregano, rosemary, lemon balm, parsley and even some catnip for fluffy.

Plans still are to be at the new Chatham Mills Market in Pittsboro on Saturdays from 8 - 12, and the Piedmont Triad Farmers' Market Thursday - Sunday from 8 - 6, April 14 - May 1.

See you there!

Lots of exciting changes this year -

▪ We will be selling at a brand new market in Pittsboro - the Chatham Mills Farmers' Market, located in the parking lot across from Chatham Marketplace. This is shaping up to be a terrific Saturday market - vendors and products you are familiar with and some new faces as well. The market starts on April 16 (8 - 12); we will probably start Mother's Day weekend (May 7).

▪ Finally, a Triad market! We will be at the Greensboro Farmers' Curb Market (Saturday 6 - 12) starting May 7.

▪ We will have a new continuity program for '11 - buy any 8 medium or large bouquets and you will get 1 free - we'll give you a punch card with your first purchase.

▪ We will have the ability to accept Visa, Mastercard and AMEX this year - no tokens to buy, we will have our own terminal.

Don't forget that we have heirloom tomato plants and herbs early spring - we will be at the Piedmont Triad Farmers' Market Fri./ Sat./ Sun. April 15 - May 1. Be sure to join our email list for bi-weekly availability updates; we will continue to update on Facebook periodically.
